Hokkaido is the second largest, northernmost and least developed of Japan's four main islands.

Hokkaido's weather is harsh in winter with lots of snowfall, below zero temperatures and frozen seas, while in summer, it does not get as hot and humid as in the other parts of the country.

With its unspoiled nature, Hokkaido attracts many outdoor lovers, including skiers and snowboarders in the colder seasons and hikers, cyclists and campers from June to September.

Let’s go for a scooter ride! In Taiwan, in the city! Sound a little scary, perhaps? Well, there are a lot of folks already out there, puttering away on their scooters. You should see rush hour in Taipei, for example. You may be overwhelmed by all the office workers on their motorscooters rushing home, or wherever. Why the popularity of scooters for commuting? Well, one reason is, in traffic clogged Taipei, car drivers have to pay for parking (sometimes expensive) and motorscooter owners don’t have to pay! Let’s take a closer look at some of the 10,000,000 (that’s right 10 million) motorcycles (scooters, whatever!) on the streets and roads of Taiwan. Beep, beep!

There are only 7 kinds of cypress trees in the world, scattered across North America, Japan and Taiwan.

The red cypress and the yellow cypress can be found in Taiwan’s national parks and forests. These specimens are considered to be national treasures and are called the “tree of god” by the Taiwanese. These trees like humidity (wetness) and fog so that’s where they mostly grow. There are some really old trees here… like over 1,000 years old! Come on along on our video tour for some tree hugging amid spectacular scenery.

As one of the most renowned and prosperous cities of China for much of the last 1,000

years, Hangzhou is also well-known for its beautiful natural scenery, with the West

Lake as the most well-known location. One of the seven capitals of ancient China,

Hangzhou is an ancient cultural city and a well-known tourist city.

It is most famous for the beautiful scenery of the West Lake. With an area of 6,047

square miles inhabited by a population of 5.2 million, it embraces six urban districts

and seven suburban counties, namely Yuhang, Xiaoshan, Fuyang, Tonglu, Lin'an, Jiande

and Chun'an. The Fuchun and Xin'an rivers and Thousand Island Lake are national scenic

areas. In the 13th century, Marco Polo praised Hangzhou as the most beautiful city in

the world. Hangzhou is also famous for its silk and tea products.
Hangzhou was chosen as the new capital of the Southern Song Dynasty when they regrouped

after their defeat at the hands of the Jin in 1123. It remained the capital from the

early 12th century until the Mongol invasion of 1276, and was known as Lin'an .

It served as the seat of the imperial government, a center of trade and entertainment,

and the nexus of the main branches of the civil service. During that time, the city was

a sort of gravitational center of Chinese civilization: what used to be considered

"central China" in the north was taken by the Jin, an ethnic minority dynasty ruled by

Jurchens.
